2013 Public Lecture University of West London – Confronting Political Control of the Police “A fast changing Landscape with Operational Consequences”

On Wednesday 13th November I will be delivering the 2013 Public Lecture for The University of West London. The topic is highly controversial and topical as I will be discussing the rapidly changing context in which independent policing is threatened by a rapidly increasing level of political interference. I will be setting out some of the patterns of control and accountability spanning 184 years and what in the last 16 give rise to the very real possibility of a police state arriving within the next generation, if unchallenged. There are many opportunities to escape this threat and I will conclude with the options for adjusting the balance whilst improving cost efficiency and operational effectiveness. See University link confronting-political-control-police Afterwards there will be a question and answer session open for all the audience to contribute to this vital area of our democracy.

I would be delighted if you can join me on the 13th November at 5.30 pm in the main reception hall of The University of West London, St Mary’s Road, Ealing (nearest tube South Ealing. Piccadilly Line) The event is free and wine/canapes will be served. You will be in the company of many leading practitioners from the criminal justice and academic sector. The lecture starts promptly at 6 pm in the University Theatre.

As an added bonus I will be offering my book (see www.book-operationsmanagement.com) at the heavily discounted rate of £10 a copy with the opportunity of a complimentary coaching session with me to explain how the book can be used to change your life and deal with the difficulties that affect us all.

If you would like to be with me on 13th November all you have to do is reply briefly to this post and I will add your name to a group list submission to the University Events Office. If you would like some guests of your own to go with you just let me know their names and e mail address’s. I would be very happy if you forward this message onto your own network, as the issues I will raise are of fundamental importance to us all.

I really hope you can be there with me at this event

Best wishes always
